Where have I been?

Hi friends! I'm kinda embarrassed that I haven't been here in awhile! Sorry 'bout that!

Here's some cool news though -- Nicki and I are going to Mexico soon on a short little vacation. We can't wait -- especially now that it's gotten so cold up here (with more cold to come!) We're going down to help friends renew their wedding vows -- it will be such a blast!

As for church life: I'm excited to see what God will do with our church and within this community as we develop a food pantry. Today I had a lady stop by and she asked for food assistance. She had three kids under 8 years old and had just entered a work stoppage and couldn't get any assistance as she was borrowing a car, healing up from an injury, etc.

It was so cool to give her a Cub gift certificate and then show her our developing food pantry -- FRUIT OF THE VINE! I told her she could come back on a monthly basis and we would be glad to bless her family with groceries. Today I sent her out with a bag of canned fruits, macaroni, fruit bars, and toilet paper! (It's not done until the paperwork is finished!) LOL! Is that okay to say from a church!?!

She was so blessed! She asked what time church was on Sunday and said she might come back! Do I hope she comes back -- OH YEAH! That would be awesome! But the best thing was this -- we were able to give out of God's blessing! We were able to be generous because of God's generosity!

Want to be a generous giver through the food pantry? Here's how you can be generous:
1) Give weekly to the poor box located in the Vineyard lobby. We suggest a dollar a week.
2) Give generously of your offerings to the Food Pantry -- designate it to the Pantry in the memo line.
3) We'll need help staffing the Pantry on a weekly basis. Donate your time for a few hours on a Saturday. We'll show you what to do! (I'll write more on this later!)
4) Pray! Pray! Pray! that we can bless people/families and make a kingdom impact!
5) Donate groceries! Soon there will be a list of groceries that you can purchase and drop off at the church. Look for that in the Vineyard lobby soon!

I'll write more in the days to come! God is building something pretty cool here! I can't wait to see you and me serving our neighbors together!

I have a question about FotV... How is it going to work? Will we staff it on certain days and times for people to come and receive food? Or will it be available whenever the church is open? How many people do we need to staff it and how many shift we will have? What do the people staffing it need to know/do?

I'm just courious about how it's going to work and what is needed to get it started. I'd love to help out in whatever way is needed.
